Last night at Sit & Stitch we were helping Jean fill her pledge of 100 Knitted Reading Buddies. The daughter of a member of her church is going to Uganda in July and needs the dolls for their reading project.

We had a great group of people and knit several dolls. Julie very generously took home several to stuff & sew up .The pattern may be found at the following site: http://cohenhillel.org/uploads/2201ReadingBuddyPattern.pdf. We’ll be knitting dolls next Wed evening, too.

Jean did promise 100 !!!

And speaking of Julie, her Wrap is finished and FABULOUS !!

The Wrap Me Up is still continuing – with great progress I might add. Garnet and Isabel have completed their wraps – although Isabel completed hers at home, because she has not been feeling well.  And I hope that Roberta is still working on her wrap in sunny Florida!!! We miss you.

Norma's wrap

Here is a detail of Norma’s lace & bead section along with the slipped stitch square using ribbon.

Dianne's wrap  Diann says she’s tired of her colors, but I love them – hard to see, but greens mauves & burgundy!

All of the Wrap Me Ups are beautiful. I get so caught up in the group when we are together, I forget to take pictures – but I got a shot of Garnet’s wrap last night. She is chipping away at her purple stash – and doing a fine job!

I promise to get the day girls’ pictures next week!

Wrap Me Up – almost a wrap!

imgp0361.JPG Here are the last blocks of the wrap … randomly placed beads,, lace, slip stitch, picot bind off…..

….. some attached i-cord for piping. imgp0362.JPG

The border is all that is left. So for those of you who want to join this KAL – check the calendar. We’ll begin mid – February. The pattern calls for 1,000 yds of a color-changing yarn & 250 yds of a solid contrasting color. I used 2 different color – changing yarns and a solid color. This would be a great project for incorporating some of your worsted weight stash – combine with some purchased yarn to pull the colors together – or not! My wrap will be at the shop – stop by and take a look so you can start planning your project.

I’ve been kind of slow on this – had some other deadlines to meet – but there is progress. The next step is to pick up a hundred or so stitches and attach the “modular scarf” piece.

This will be a great class/KAL. There are so many great techniques in the wrap (have I said this before?)

My “Wrap Me Up” project is progressing. I hope to have another picture tomorrow and be able to set a date for the KAL.

A couple other projects have slowed me down – I started the Phiaro Scarf/Shawl with Oasis from SWTC, gearing up for an afterschool program at Lee Rd and planning my contest entry for Interweave Press.

Happy & Healthy New Year to All!

Beads have been added … I’m finishing block # 11 …. and it’s still fun. I hope to get quite a bit done if we actually get some additional snow!

Wrap Me Up !!

What a great project to be working on today in the snow. I closed the shop early – not too early, though – because there weren’t many who wanted to venture out in the snow! Below is the picture of Knitting At Noon’s pattern called “Wrap Me Up”. Next to it is the one that I have started.

wrapmeuppaintbox.jpg imgp0240.JPG

I know it is hard to see in the picture – but it is a lot of fun. It’s a great piece to wear out and about or just curl up on the sofa. Each block is different- beginning with mitered squares and yes, that’s a big fat blue ruffle in the middle. I’m using 3 different yarns – 2 color changing & 1 solid. I was waiting for my beads to arrive so that I could continue with my next block when I took this picture. I’m planning on this piece for a workshop – beginning the end of Jan or Feb. Go to www.Knittingatnoon.comto check out a better photo. It’s a great project for learning and for “stash busting”. Let me know if you are interested in this project – stop by and take a look at mine. I’ll keep you updated with pictures here.
