The Power is Back !!

It’s Sunday and I’m sitting at the shop – both John ( my husband) &  I are sitting at computers catching up on work.  It seems good not to be shoveling snow.  We still don’t have power at home, but that will soon be resolved as the town is full of trucks from Michigan !  I thought the storm would have been a great time to get a lot of Olympic knitting done – but shoveling and tree removal takes a  lot of time and energy.  My sweater back and fronts are blocked.   I’ve been listening to Andre Agassi on my Ipod while knitting the sleeves.  So hopefully I’ll do some sewing and pick up the bands tonight – but I’m down to the wire and I may not finish.  I haven’t even been able to watch the Olympics !!

Everyone here is safe and healthy – I’ve seen Jean (who doesn’t have power yet, either) and Meghan.  Can’t wait to see you this week !!  We’ll be revising that class schedule again.

    Gail,
I am sorry to hear that you still don’t have power. We lost power for a little while on Thursday but it cam back after about an hour. Unfortunately early on Friday morning, a tree branch came down and put a small hole in the corner of our roof and bedroom ceiling. Most of the branch fell on the driveway except for the small piece that hit the roof. We are fine and there doesn’t seem to be too much damage. We’ll have to wait for a roofer to look at it.
I finished my scarf so I am onto another project. Glad to hear that you are all safe and I hope your power ordeal will be over soon.

    See you soon!

Oh no! I totally feel your pain. Philly is just FINALLY getting over the 40-some-odd inches of snow that got dumped on us over the two blizzards we got slammed with this month. Looking forward to spring and coming up to visit the shop!

I’m sorry to hear that you still don’t have power at home! But I’m glad that you are okay. We are okay over here too. We lost power for about 24 hours but are back on now. I spoke with Sharon and they are fine too. They still don’t have power and have gone to a hotel in NJ. I can’t wait to see your sweater. I donl know if I will finish the headband tonight but I’m going to try after a serious grading session!

so happy to hear you are OK this morning at church our organist (she lives in Cornwall near town) said that one of the roofs collapsed I was so afraid it was you. but when she explained where it was I was relived. I am only knitting a baby sweater and hope to get it done this evening – but with family coming over for dinner again it dosen’t look good – can we have a snow delay in our olympic games.

I’m glad you got your power back on now…We just got ours back on yesterday afternoon after not having it since late Thursday night….I’m pulling for you on your Olympic sweater too….I know it’s going to look wonderful….One of these days, I’ll venture out that way to one of your crochet sit sessions that go on in the afternoon…During the winter, I don’t go out after dark & it gets dark after 4:30 those days. I’m glad that Spring is around the corner….I’m trying not to think about anymore snow even though my Dad just told me we’re supposed to get more on Tuesday & Wednesday….Ugggghhhhh!!!! No more snow….

    Hi Gail,

Glad to hear you and hubby are alright. We, too, lost power from the storm day until late Friday evening. Our phone was out until late this Sunday morning.

A lot of Vails Gate busineses are still without power. Price Chopper has power, but as of last night, Shoprite was operating with generators.

Today, late Sunday we finally had our long horse shoe driveway plowed. We were really snowed in.

Since we had experience with power outages during our time in Maine, we invested in a Honda generator. Thank God!

Nancy is doing o.k. She also was plowed out Sunday. She’s going to a friend’s to dinner this afternoon.

The knitting went by the wayside. My husband and I were shoveling in shifts. Boy, do those street plows really pile it on one’s driveway.

    Hope everyone is o.k.

    Jackie

Hi Gail, hope you’re power is back on soon. At least you have the shop to escape to for heat. I’ll be in soon as I have been forging ahead with my wrap around! Can you believe it, I’ve only been working on it for about 2.5 years!

    See you soon,

    Elaine

Does this mean the steek workshop was canceled? If so, will it be rescheduled?

We just got power back on at 3:06 today….Tuesday……from last Thurs right before the girl’s gold medal Hockey game…..Missed ALL of the girls Skating…and found an old crank radio I got from somewhere. I finished my olympic socks…..and even got a little pair out of leftovers for my grandbaby Lola…..Then started Snowstorm socks……..

Finally on Saturday we got out and found some batteries…and we listened to the Men’s Gold medal Hockey game…too bad it was fun listening to it…..

What a mess we had around here. It looks like I.E.D’s went off every hundred yards. But guess what WE MADE IT and will do it again if we have to.hope you get power soon too,.. See you soon need more sock yarn, LOL….Love Betty

Great pictures Gail! We didn’t get out until noonish on Saturday so we had no idea how bad things were in town. Up on Armand’s Way off Mineral Springs we were buried in snow but didn’t have the downed trees and lines. We pretty much just turned around and came back home to keep out of everyone’s way so we didn’t get to see Main Street. Pretty incredible!
